789 Crew are a London based UK Hip-Hop /RnB/Experimental
music collective. They were found in 2007, by Khalid with
the help of M.Y.ZEE and YuN.
The name 789 doesn’t have a specific meaning but was chosen so that it
could be remembered easily. It can be known as a sequence of
numbers which can be seen everywhere from computer keyboards
to mobile phones. This all reinforcing the name 789 into the
persons mind. The ‘Crew’ was used to show that there were
many people in the group aswell as give that ‘urban’
feeling.
The first song released by the 789 was ‘Don’t Be Shy’. The
track included SnR Recordings, close companions to the crew
at the time. The song became a massive hit and many radio
stations including BBC Asian Network and Club Asia played
the song for 3 weeks running. Even today the catchy song
‘Don’t Be Shy’ still proves to be a favourite for many
people.
789 have performed at many of the top venues in the U.K, supporting
international artists such as ‘Jagged Edge’ & ‘Blackstreet’
aswell as many of UK mainstream artists.
The group has released numerous tracks to download for FREE,
which has totalled over 500,000 downloads.
Currently 789 Crew are working on their debut single, which
will be out very soon!
